Community Programs at Little Ferns Early Learning Centre

Contact the Executive Director, Amy Collum, amy@littleferns.ca, 250-753-1783 to register for any of these FREE community programs that are sponsored by The Ferns Association for Young Children and Families, Ministry of Children and Family Development and other Community Service groups.

  1. Parent Child Mother Goose Program: this is a fun, interactive 10 week program of songs, fingerplays and oral stories, with a quick snack break, for parents or grandparents and young children ages baby to 30 months. PCMG happens starting the third Thursday of September, January and April at 3:00-3:50 here at Little Ferns. You do not have to have a child at Little Ferns to be part of Mother Goose with us!   2. PIVOT
    – think another way. This amazing, high energy program for young teens/adult girls ages 16-21 happens at Little Ferns (At John Barsby Secondary School campus) each Fall for 12 sessions, and again each April for 12 sessions at a different secondary school in the district- Wed. 3:00-4:30! A funky hot pink teeshirt, journal, activity binder and incredible snacks are part of this dynamic program. You do not have to be a young parent OR currently in school to join us! Call today.   3. Nobody’s Perfect.
    This Canadian Parent Education Group is fun, informative and SO full of laughs, ideas and support! Come out starting in January or February of each year on Wednesdays at Little Ferns . Runs for 7-9 sessions 3:15-4:45. This group includes great parent ideas and solutions booklets to keep and totally believes that you are a capable parent who loves your child best! You do not have to have a child attending Little Ferns to join our group! Great for moms AND dads of children ages baby to grade one. Lead by Amy Collum and Pam Hadikin.
  4. You Make The Difference
    – Parent and preschool aged child communication program by Hanen available to Little Ferns and Community Parents as needed. YMTD includes DVD of you and your child! Take home fun activities each week. Group size 6- 10. Call Amy Collum to ask about the next set of 9 sessions.
  5. Right From The Start
    – For new young parents and babies program. Developed by Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. Includes interactive DVD to see how to best connect with your new baby! Make friends with other new teen/young parents. Call Amy Collum to inquire about next start date.
